How the clothing quiz is different
The main aesthetic quiz asks about everything you like: drinks, music, rooms and clothes. This one only asks about what you wear. That makes it the better pick if you want shopping advice, or if your taste in clothes is not the same as your taste in everything else. Plenty of people love a cottagecore kitchen and still dress in black streetwear.
The scoring works the same way. Each answer gives 2 points to one aesthetic and 1 point to a close neighbor, and every one of the 10 styles can reach the same top score. Your answers are added up in your browser and are never sent anywhere.
Clothing aesthetics at a glance
Here is what each style looks like in a closet. The signature pieces are the ones that do the most work, so start there.
| Aesthetic | Signature pieces | Colors |
|---|---|---|
| Dark academia | Tweed blazer, cable-knit sweater, leather loafers | espresso, walnut, forest |
| Cottagecore | Puff-sleeve prairie dress, gingham blouse, straw hat | linen, sage, dusty rose |
| Coquette | Satin hair bow, lace-trim cami, mini skirt with ruffles | ballet pink, lace white, rose |
| Clean girl | Fitted ribbed tank, oversized blazer, claw clip | oat, latte, caramel |
| Old money | Cashmere crewneck, crisp button-down shirt, leather loafers | navy, ivory, camel |
| Minimalist | Plain white tee, black straight trousers, minimal sneakers | white, light grey, stone |
| Y2K | Baby tee, low-rise flared jeans, tinted sunglasses | bubblegum, baby blue, lilac |
| Grunge | Flannel shirt, band tee, oversized knit | washed black, flannel red, army green |
| Boho | Tiered maxi skirt, peasant blouse, layered necklaces | terracotta, mustard, olive |
| Streetwear | Oversized hoodie, graphic tee, fitted cap | black, white, signal red |
How to build an outfit from your result
A simple formula works for every aesthetic: one plain base, one signature piece, and shoes that belong to the style.
- Base. Jeans, trousers or a skirt and a plain top in one of your palette colors.
- Signature piece. The one item that says the style out loud: a tweed blazer for dark academia, a satin bow for coquette, a flannel for grunge.
- Shoes. Loafers, ballet flats, combat boots, platform sandals. Shoes change the read of an outfit more than anything else.
Get those three right and the outfit reads as the aesthetic, even if everything else is from a normal high street store.
Mixing two clothing aesthetics
Your result shows a mix because most real wardrobes are a blend. The trick is to keep one style as the base and borrow one or two details from the other. Some pairs that work well:
- Dark academia and grunge: a long wool coat and a cable knit, with scuffed combat boots instead of loafers.
- Clean girl and old money: neutral basics, a crisp shirt and loafers, with gold hoops and a slick bun.
- Coquette and Y2K: a baby tee and a mini skirt, finished with a satin bow and ballet flats.
- Boho and cottagecore: a tiered maxi skirt with a gingham blouse and a straw hat.
