Why a separate quiz for your room?

Taste in rooms and taste in clothes often split. You might dress minimal for work and still want a bedroom full of plants, rugs and candles. The main aesthetic quiz blends both. This one only looks at your space, so the result is something you can actually decorate with.

It uses the same 10 aesthetics and the same fair scoring. Each answer gives 2 points to the style it fits best and 1 point to a close neighbor, so every style has an equal top score. Everything is added up in your browser.

How to give your room an aesthetic without starting over

You do not need new furniture. Most of a room's mood comes from four things you can change in a weekend.

  1. Bedding. It is the biggest block of color in a bedroom. Swap it for one of your palette colors and the room shifts at once.
  2. Light. Warm lamps and candles read as dark academia, cottagecore or boho. Cool, bright daylight reads as minimalist or clean girl. Colored LED strips read as streetwear or Y2K.
  3. Walls. Posters, framed prints, a tapestry or nothing at all. Pick what your result suggests and take the rest down.
  4. One signature object. A brass desk lamp, a canopy, a rattan chair, a stack of records. One strong piece does more than ten small ones.

Room aesthetics for small spaces and rentals

Minimalist and clean girl are the easiest to fit into a small room, because both rely on less stuff and pale colors that make a space feel bigger. Dark academia and grunge can feel cramped if you paint everything dark, so keep the walls light and bring the mood in with wood, books, fabric and lamps.

If you rent, focus on things you can take with you: bedding, rugs, lamps, plants and removable hooks for art. Curious whether your wardrobe matches your room? Take the aesthetic clothing quiz and compare.

Frequently asked questions

What is my room aesthetic?
It is the mood your ideal room has: its colors, light, textures and the objects in it. The quiz above names it out of 10 popular aesthetics, with a palette and things to add first.
How do I make my room aesthetic?
Pick one style, then change the bedding, the light and the walls to match it, and add one signature object. That changes a room more than new furniture does.
Can I mix two room aesthetics?
Yes. Keep the main style for the big things like walls and bedding, and use the second one for small details like a lamp, a print or a plant.
Which room aesthetic is best for a small room?
Minimalist and clean girl make small rooms feel bigger, because they use pale colors and fewer things. Darker styles work too if you keep the walls light.
